Video Game Schwag

When I look at these Space Invaders promotional coasters, I just think of that Futurama episode where Fry wishes his life were more like a video game. “Drop down, increase speed, reverse direction!” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then just keeping reading anyway.

After doing a little research, I found out that Space Invaders was released way back in 1978. That’s early for a video game. The 2D shooter exploded with a new version released on Atari in 1980. The pixelated space invader above became famous by enticing arcade goers and bar hoppers to shoot him down. The game made such an impact in the video game world that the Guinness Book of World Records ranked it as the highest rated arcade game of all-time, above Pac-Man.
