Retro Gaming - Don’t Panic!
Bundling snazzy schwag with major game releases might be a pretty common thing nowadays, but you usually have to pay quite a premium for a special edition of the game. There was a time when these extras would come at no extra charge, such as many of Infocom’s text adventure games.
One of the most memorable ‘feelies’ is the extras that came with the infuriatingly difficult Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: a pair of “peril sensitive sunglasses,” a microscopic space fleet, orders for the destruction of Earth and Arthur Dent’s house, pocket fluff and a pin-on button imprinted with “Don’t Panic!” (not pictured). The only way those cool froods could have made that game better is figuring out how to fit a towel into the box.
