The schwag for Gears of War was pretty underwhelming for such a major release. The coolest pieces I have seen were these dog tags and pins that came from an EBGames promotion. Luckily, Epic Games seems determined to make a bigger splash the second time around, with rumors of a mini replica Lancer being included [...]

Bundling snazzy schwag with major game releases might be a pretty common thing nowadays, but you usually have to pay quite a premium for a special edition of the game. There was a time when these extras would come at no extra charge, such as many of Infocom’s text adventure games.
One of the most memorable [...]

This cute figurine was a release promotion for Secret Agent Clank, a spin-off game of the Rachet & Clank series for the PSP. Unfortunately, the only way to get one was to pre-order the game from GameStop, so anyone wanting one of these nifty toys will have to do some hunting on eBay.

Check out what Blizzard gave away as the grand prize of their recent artwork contest:
It’s an extremely detailed replica of Frostmourne that looks like it has just been wrested from the cold dead hands of Arthas. This is easily the sexiest piece of video-game related schwag I’ve ever seen — the level of detail on [...]

More Fallout 3 schwag from Bethesda at E3. I love the SimTek 1000 View Master, but Nuka Cola just isn’t real Nuka Cola unless it’s blue. Perhaps they should have dug up some warm and flat Pepsi Blue to fill those bottles, for that extra authentic look.

Here’s some promotional schwag that came with the release of the Spore Creature Creator last month. Some lucky fans of the hotly anticipated, multi-genre, Will Wright-designed game received the Creature Creator software as well as an EA notepad/sketchpad and USB stick. I have no doubts that the Seths of the world will put both the [...]

A team from Epic Games gave out these art books at E3 to promote the upcoming sequel to the wildly popular Gears of War. As far as I know, this piece of schwag is only available at their media events, but hopefully it will also be included with a collectors edition of the game.

Here’s a blast from the past, it’s a pair of Space Invaders cuff-links! Doesn’t that just bring back some fond childhood memories? For the uber-geeky fans, here’s also a pair of Atari cuff-links.

If you thought the GTA 4 schwag was over the top, wait till you see what Bethesda has lined up for Fallout 3. The Amazon.com exclusive Survival Edition comes with a ‘Making of Fallout 3′ DVD, a Vault Boy Bobblehead, an ‘Art of Fallout 3′ book and a Vault-Tec lunch box. Pretty nice, but [...]

NIS America gave out these promotional candies in a contest to promote the North American release of the DS puzzle game, Puchi Puchi Virus. Although the contest is now closed, you still have a chance to score some Puchi Puchi swag. Their online storefront at Rosenqueen is offering promotional pill-shaped anti-virus stress balls for [...]
